There are several different loading platforms on the market designed for a variety of operations. Manufacturers design some platforms for use in skyscraper construction, but not all.
Retractable loading platform
A retractable loading platform allows access in and out of the building to move equipment and materials more efficiently. When not in use, the product is typically flush with the outside of the building, but can be moved inside on wheels when operators want to access its contents.
The retractable loading platform is suitable for use with a crane but can also be stored neatly when not in use. Although there are moving parts, the capacity is often high. There is generally no weight disadvantage compared to conventional platforms.
The retractable loading platform also offers many features that make it easier to use. These include vertical mounting, stackability and independent safety testing for enhanced safety.
The Preston Superdeck is an example of a retractable loading deck. The system allows construction site managers to place decks vertically, one on top of the other, to quickly transport materials into multi-story buildings.
Professionals sometimes refer to retractable loading platforms as cantilever loading platforms. This is because they appear to stick out from the edge of the building, somewhat like cantilevered staircases.
fixed loading platform
Fixed loading platforms are the standard loading platform for most construction applications. Builders use them when scalability is not required.
These systems come in a variety of sizes and are ideal for construction managers working on sites with limited space. Some platforms may be only 2 meters wide.
The fixed loading platform also comes with fixed harness points. These allow workers to stack and roll them as needed.
Installation of the fixed loading platform takes only 15 minutes. However, depending on the location, it may take longer.
